The Rev. Edmund Squire
1862-1866, 1867

Was born in Taunton, England, on March 14, 1815, to William and Eliza (Burnard) Squire.  He studied Theology with the Rev. James Murch of Bath.  He held Unitarian Pastorates in Idle, England; South Boston, Massachusetts,\; and Hallowell, Maine (1854-1856.)  He was the Minister at Washington Village Church in South Boston from 1856-1862.  Founder, in 1862, of an Independent Church in Dorchester which (in 1867) became the Cottage Street Congregational Church (known since 1877 as Pilgrim Church) He was the acting Pastor of the Congregational Church in Centerville, Massachusetts, from 1869-1875.  He was acting as Pastor at the church in Warwick from 1881 until his death July 29, 1889. He married his first wife was Maria Hinckes of  Cork, Ireland in 1851.  Maria died in 1860.  His second wife was Sarah Bedfern of Boston, Massachusetts, whiom he married in 1863.

The Reverend Henry Martyn Dexter Served as Pastor in 1866
Henry Martyn Dexter (August 13, 1821-November 13, 1890) was born in Plympton, Massachsetts.  He graduated from Yale in 1840, and from Andover Theological Seminary in 1844. He served as Pastor of the Congregational Church in Manchester, New Hampshire, and of the Berkely Congregational Church in Boston, Massachusetts.  He later went on to edit the Congregationalist magazine.  He was a profilic author on congregationalism and related topics.  He is known for having transalted the first Christian hymn (the author of which is known):  Shepherd of Tender Youth. He was also active in the clergy response to the Missouri Compromise.
